Meet Dr. Jo

Hello! Welcome to Elementary Unpacked, where you will be given tips and tools for becoming a model elementary teacher. I’m your coach, Dr. Jovaun Daniels, but most people call me Dr. Jo. My doctorate is in Reading and Literacy, I’m certified in EC-6 and ESL, and I have over 11 years of elementary classroom and coaching experience.

I’ve taught in traditional independent school districts and charter networks ranging from kindergarten through fifth-grade; but third-grade will always have my heart. I’ve had the pleasure of working with and coaching kindergarten through fifth-grade teachers, principals, assistant principals, deans, and directors. I have helped with the development of their content knowledge, pedagogy, cultural competence, differentiation, and classroom management. I’ve found it to be incredibly rewarding to see how individuals grow and succeed under my guidance. Some of the individuals I’ve coached are now coaches, specialists, and principals. Now, I’m here to be your coach too!
